Terry Phillips Racing (TPR) invaded Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas from March 15-17 for 'King of America VIII,' which was once again sanctioned by the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). In Thursday night's $2,500 to win weekend lid lifter, Terry Phillips won his heat race from the pole position and later finished tenth in the 40-lapper, which featured little passing. On Friday evening in the prelims for the $10,000 to win 'King of America,' Terry placed third in his first heat race of the night, but unfortunately suffered a flat tire and ran seventh in his final heat race. In the C-Main on Saturday, TP got a hole in the radiator early in the race, which effectively ended his weekend and caused him not to be able to transfer into the 75-lap headliner. Full results from the KOA weekend can be viewed online at

Terry Phillips unloaded his Open Wheel Modified for the first time in 2018 over the March 9-10 weekend in the state of Mississippi with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). On Friday night in a $3,000 to win shootout at Jackson Motor Speedway near Jackson, Mississippi, Terry finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main before starting the 40-lap headliner from the outside of the eighth row. TP then blasted all the way up to the fourth position with only 8 laps remaining, but a flat tire relegated him to a seventeenth place showing.

In a similar $3,000 to win program for the USMTS gang on Saturday evening at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi, Terry was unfortunately disqualified in his heat race due to a deck height infraction that was caused by a racing incident the night prior. He then stormed up to second in his B-Main before climbing to eleventh in the final finishing order of the 40-lap main event. Full results from both weekend battles can be accessed online at

Terry Phillips, of Springfield, Missouri, wrapped up the 12th Annual 'Wild West Shootout' tonight at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona and was one of the 45 entrants who signed in to the pit area to vie for the $13,000 windfall in the miniseries finale. Terry clicked off the fourth fastest lap in his group during qualifying prior to finishing fourth in his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the eighth row in the 50-lap headliner and receiving nose damage from getting caught up in a wreck, TP wound up finishing right where he started... in the fifteenth position.

(January 13, 2018) The penultimate contest of the 2018 'Wild West Shootout' miniseries took place tonight at Arizona Speedway and another $5,000 payday awaited the winner who stood tall in victory lane at the Queen Creek, Arizona facility. Terry Phillips qualified fifth fastest in his group during the time trial session before placing seventh in his loaded heat race. After grabbing the third transfer spot through his B-Main, Terry worked his way past three competitors during the 40-lapper on his way to an eighteenth place showing.

(January 12, 2018) Yet another $5,000 winner's check was up for grabs tonight in the fourth round of the 'Wild West Shootout' at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona. Terry Phillips laid down the fifth quickest time in his group during qualifying, but could only muster a seventh place finish in his heat race and an eighth place effort in his B-Main. Unfortunately, TP was not able to transfer into the 30-lap feature event, which was eventually won by Mike Marlar.

(January 10, 2018) Following a couple of days off from racing competition, the third round of the six-race 'Wild West Shootout' miniseries took center stage tonight at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona. A hammer-down racing surface greeted the 45 Super Late Model entrants tonight following a deluge of overnight rain in the Phoenix area. Terry Phillips stopped the clock tenth fastest in his group during the time trial session and later finished seventh in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main. TP then moved forward past six cars during the $5,000 to win main event to record a seventeenth place effort in the 40-lapper.

(January 7, 2018) Night two of the 12th Annual 'Wild West Shootout' took place earlier tonight at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona and another $5,000 top prize was on the line. Terry Phillips clicked off the third fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session prior to grabbing the third and final transfer spot through his heat race. The Springfield, Missouri star then steered his new Black Diamond mount past eight cars during the 40-lap headliner on his way to strong sixth place showing behind only winner Don Shaw, Bobby Pierce, Mike Marlar, Ryan Gustin, and Brandon Sheppard!

(January 6, 2018) The Terry Phillips Racing (TPR) team lifted the lid to their 2018 campaign tonight in round one of the annual 'Wild West Shootout' at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona. A strong 50 car Super Late Model field assembled in the desert for the $5,000 to win opener. Terry Phillips unfortunately got into the wall during time trials and did not record an official lap, but he bounced back in a big way by vaulting all the way up to second in his heat race. After starting the 40-lapper from the outside of the sixth row, TP drove past a trio of competitors en route to a solid ninth place performance.
